When most people think of truck driving, they picture a single driver operating the vehicle alone while transporting cargo.
The way team trucking works is that two different drivers take turns behind the wheel. One will be driving while the other will either be in the passenger seat (up to two of the ten required off-duty hours) or the sleeper berth. This allows the truck to keep moving while following hours-of-service regulations
Otherwise called weekend home drivers. Regional trucking is the best blend of OTR driving and local driving. For regional drivers, their work is focused within geographic regions of the United States. These regions usually are 4-5 states and don't go past a 1000-mile range
An owner-operator (also known as a "truck owner-operator" or "OTR trucker") is a truck driver who leases or owns their own truck. Owner-operators are responsible for all aspects of their business, including finding their own loads, arranging their own financing, and maintaining their truck.
This is the traditional lease-to-own semi-truck program. You still lease your equipment from a specific carrier and drive for them. But you pay a down payment, and at the end of the contract, you own the equipment
Semi truck Renting/Leasing is merely getting a truck temporarily from a company for a stipulated period. Although the truck does not belong to you after the lease term has ended, you have the option of buying the truck outright based on a predetermined price.
